Also, if they intentionally left the island in a planned manner or got shot by ops, it does not make sense to leave such a terrible clue like “Croatoan” written on a tree, behind. A note, or a map would have been substantially more helpful. Some posit this implies that the colonists fled the island quickly, and not of their own volition. Mass alien abduction would explain why no bodies have ever been found because the aliens probably took the bodies to test/harass. Additionally, it remains possible in this line of thinking that the hidden symbol found below the patch by the British Museum may indicate an alien landing site or crop circle phenomenon, rather than a formal British fortification. Naturally, if this were true, it would make sense as to why John White and the colonists would keep such a thing hidden to not get caught by 12
