Alain F. Corcos

Retired Professor of Botany and Plant Pathology at Michigan State University. He was born in Paris in 1925, but was raised on the French Riviera. In November 1947, he went to California and enrolled as a horticulture student at California State Polytechnic College at San Luis Obispo and got his degree in 1950. He then moved to East Lansing, Michigan, to do graduate work in botany and agronomy at Michigan State University. In June 1952, he got his Master's degree in Botany and Plant Pathology. After getting his Ph.D. in agronomy in 1958, he went to work as a plant breeder in California and, three years later, became a biology teacher, first at the University of California, then at the Oregon College of Education at Monmouth. He then moved to his Alma Mater where he taught science to non-scientists for a number of years and had the chance to do research in plant biology. He retired from teaching in 1991 and has since written books. - from msu.edu
