Diane Julie Abbott MP (born 27 September 1953) is a British politician who has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Hackney North and Stoke Newington since 1987. A member of the Labour Party and Labour Party Black Sections, the same as fellow MPs Paul Boateng, Bernie Grant and Keith Vaz, who entered Parliament on the same historic occasion, she served as Labour's Shadow Home Secretary from 2016 to 2020.
