Question
Should we mute the microphones, find a better referee, or cancel them altogether?
Position‹3 of 3

We should cancel microphones altogether

Proponents of this position hold that amplification is itself the mechanism of disruption: while everyone is always audible, interrupting pays. Removing the microphones removes the reward, so whoever is not speaking cannot talk over whoever is.

Supporting arguments · 2

  1. If nobody can be amplified, interrupting stops being worth anything
  2. The occasion does not need live crosstalk to serve its purpose
