The theory of Energy Conservation supports the existence of ghosts

In chemistry and physics, The Law of Conservation of Energy states that energy cannot be created or destroyed, and that it can only be converted from one energy form to another. Energy is conserved over time and remains constant. This theory supports the existence of ghosts; when we die, our energy has to go somewhere.

The argument

Believers in ghosts often ground their case in one of the most secure principles in physics: the first law of thermodynamics, which holds that energy can be neither created nor destroyed, only transformed from one form into another. A living human being is, among other things, an energetic system. The body runs on electricity: neurons fire, the heart beats to electrical impulses, and the brain sustains measurable electromagnetic activity throughout life. On this argument, when a person dies, the energy that animated them cannot simply cease to exist — the conservation law forbids it. It must go somewhere. Proponents suggest that this surviving energy is precisely what people encounter as a ghost. The theory, they argue, explains the recurring texture of paranormal reports: apparitions associated with places where a person lived or died traumatically, as if energy were imprinted on a location; cold spots and electrical disturbances during sightings, as if ambient energy were being drawn upon or discharged; and the tendency of ghost-hunting equipment to register electromagnetic fluctuations in reportedly haunted places. The same reasoning appears across cultures and centuries in the intuition that something — a soul, a spirit, a life force — departs the body at death rather than vanishing. For advocates of this view, the conservation of energy gives belief in ghosts a footing in science rather than superstition. The question, they argue, is not whether the energy of a person persists — physics says it must — but what form it takes, and whether the living can sometimes perceive it.
