V is the BTS fan favourite
V has topped fan favourite polls and gets the most views on his fan cams.
The argument
The argument is an argument from revealed preference: rather than assessing V's vocal ability, dance or songwriting, it asks which member fans actually choose to watch and to vote for, and holds that V consistently comes out first. The strongest evidence offered is fan cam viewership. Fan-captured videos focused on a single member are among the purest available measures of individual popularity, because a viewer selecting a fan cam is choosing that member specifically rather than the group's output as a whole. The fan cams featuring V are some of the most viewed in K-Pop history — not merely within BTS but across the genre, which places his individual draw among the largest anywhere in the field. Popularity polls point the same way. V ranks as one of the fans' favourite members whenever such polls are run, and in 2018 he placed first in one conducted in the United States. The American result matters to the argument because it meets the obvious objection that a domestic fanbase might favour a particular member for reasons which do not travel. A first-place finish in a different market suggests the preference is not an artefact of any one audience. Why this bears on who is best, rather than merely who is most liked, is the argument's final step. In a group whose members are all accomplished performers, technical comparisons produce no agreed answer; each is stronger on some dimension and weaker on another. What fans respond to is the whole of a performer — presence, charisma, the quality that makes an audience watch one person rather than the six beside them. That is not separate from being good at the job; in a performing group it is much of the job. So the case is that the audience has already answered the question. Across viewership and across polls, in Korea and abroad, the member fans return to most often is V.
Premises
Counter-arguments
Although V's popularity with fans is notable, we must also consider his musical talent before dubbing him BTS' best member. Since this argument mentions nothing about his musical skill, it does not provide an adequate reason for considering V as the band's best member.
Rejecting the premises
[Rejecting P1] Equating 'best' with 'most popular' settles the question by stipulation. Popularity is one candidate criterion for which member is best, not a definition of it, and the other positions in this debate propose different ones. [Rejecting P2] Fan-cam views and poll results measure attention and fan mobilisation rather than performance, and online polls are open to organised voting by the most active fandoms. The argument says nothing about singing, dancing, songwriting or stage presence, which is what a claim about the best member would ordinarily rest on.
